We are currently seeking a Junior Epidemiologist/Master’s in Public Health for the Silver Spring, Maryland area.


Assists in the oversight and implement of systems designed to track respiratory illness in high-risk populations. Develops mechanism to improve respiratory disease outbreak detection and reporting.
Assists in the oversight and improvement of systems to track reportable events with a focus on respiratory illness.
Assists in the development, planning, testing, and validation of detailed public health seroepidemiologic studies to be conducted in near-real time in the vent of a suspected or confirmed outbreak of pandemic influenza, using the DMSS and DODSR serum specimens.
Works as part of a multidisciplinary team to improve the tracking of acute respiratory disease and other reportable events in the U.S. Army and DOD.
Tracks respiratory diseases using the DMSS and with direct interaction with preventive medicine staff.
Assists external military and collaborating civilian research clients in the development and execution of general epidemiologic and seroepidemiologic studies, using the DMSS and DODSR serum specimens.
Assists fellow staff as required regarding epidemiological study design, biostatistical methods, and SAS programming tasks.
Performs light duties and other related duties as required and assigned.

Must have a Masters Degree in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, statistics, or equivalent health discipline.
Must have a minimum of 6 years of experience in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics or statistics, with significant related experience using SAS.
Must have the knowledge and ability to use and teach complex epidemiologic and biostatistical methods for assessing the risk of disease due to potential risk factors.
Must be familiar with computer programming including detailed knowledge of statistical software including SAS, familiarity with the Oracle database structures and queries using SQL.
Must have excellent written oral and written communications skills.
Must have a demonstrated ability to successfully support multiple tasks simultaneously and independently.
Must have a demonstrated ability to work with multidisciplinary project teams.
Must have the ability to think independently about epidemiologic problems and have the ability to assess data.
Must be able to work independently following a brief period of specific technical training.
